"The Rivals" is a hilarious restoration comedy of manners from the 18th century and NLT's adaptation sets the story in Natchez in the mid 19th century. The story is about several gentlemen who are rivals for the hand of one beautiful heiress and the mess that ensues from hidden identities, unrealistic romantic expectations and the involvement of parents, who think they know best when it comes to marriage. One of the greatest farces ever written.
